I'm Just a Girl

"...in the world." This is one of my favorite quotes ever. It's truth, it's sarcasm, it's the moment. It's a feeling that even a powerful musical presence like Gwen Stefani could experience.

The impression that I got from the article, in this month's Elle Magazine, is that Gwen is juggling, being a mom, a wife, a rock star, a fashion icon and it can become a little overwhelming.

Kingston is a demanding toddler and Zuma is still on the boob (way to be health and environmentally aware) and Gwen is getting things back together with her old band mates.

This mom and wife, who places these roles as her most important, says growing up she had no real ambition, she says, "I just thought I was going to have babies." Well I'm sure she would have rocked that too, but lucky for us she's done lots more than that.

Though she's now touring with No Doubt there will be no new hits, they just weren't able to get it together in the studio, her lack of creativity probably a complication of her sleep deprivation. Just temporary Gwen, we'll wait for you.

This article left Gwen preciously exposed, authentically humble. "I'm not anything more than I am," she says. I think that's an important concept for us all to marinate on.

Underneath it all, I guess that Gwen is just a mom, just a wife, just a rocker, just an icon. She's just a girl....like me, but much more fly. Damn..look at this pic right here. Gotta give it this Orange County girl.
